Why is SecureFileX secure?

Hosted Solutions' Network Operations CenterIn dealing with data, there are numerous types of security. Not only is it important to safeguard the data during the upload/download process, it is equally important to guard against the physical theft of data from backup tapes, servers, etc.

Each user of the system has a unique login and password. For enhanced security, users create their own passwords which are known only to them...not even our support personnel have the ability to view or determine a user's password.

Secure Transmission

Files are transmitted between the user's computer and our servers using SSL (Secure Socket Layer) encryption, ensuring that all data remains private. This same functionality is used by financial institutions and popular e-commerce services for secure transmission ("https://" in web address).

256-Bit Encryption

The data itself is encrypted using the Advanced Encryption Standard with 256-bit keys. This is the same encryption standard used by U.S. government organizations, such as the National Security Agency, to ensure the data is unintelligible to unauthorized users. In addition, a separate encryption procedure is used while the data resides on our servers and backup media to guard against loss or theft.

Physical Security

The SecureFileX servers are located in a facility that is managed by Windstream Hosted Solutions a trusted provider of secure and reliable data centers.

Hosted Solutions' Facility

The state-of-the-art data center features the following security measures:

  • Biometric scanning for controlled data center access

  • 24-hour physical security monitors all cameras, door positions and badge access areas
  • Redundant off-site monitoring of all security systems
  • Ballistics-proof walls, doors and windows
  • Cage and cabinet locks impossible to "pick" because they require unique laser-etched keys with magnetic signatures
  • Hurricane wind rated roof
  • Multiple redundant power sources, including a diesel generator with 7 days of fuel in case of power outage
  • Regular incremental and full backups of all system data performed including off-site storage of data backups

SAS 70 Type II Certification

Windstream Hosted Solutions has received a qualified, Type II SAS 70 certification, validating the accuracy and integrity of its managed services. Performed by an independent accounting firm, this audit is an internationally recognized and respected auditing standard attesting to the fact that there are sufficient process, controls and safeguards to keep your data safe from theft, corruption or mishandling. Unlike the Type I Certification which only measures a single point in time, Type II Certification measures and evaluates over a period of time.
